F is for Flagellates, fantastical and fabulous. The letter F from my Microbial Alphabet series. Flagellates are a diverse group of organisms. I've depicted some of my favorites: bioluminescent noctiluca, euglena, horned ceratium, tetraselmis and dunaliella salina. I also snuck giardia in for fun!

E is for Euglena, eyespotted and elegant. The letter E from my Microbial Alphabet series.
Euglenoids are always a fun thing to see under the microscope. They are immediately identifiable by their bright red eye spots. Here I have depicted a variety of euglenoids in various shades and forms.
D is for diatoms, delightful and diverse. The letter D from my Microbial Alphabet series.
Here I feature just a few common freshwater species including cymbella, pinnularia, navicula, ulnaria, melosira, cocconeis, epithemia, and meridion.
C is for ciliates, curious and charismatic. The letter C from my Microbial Alphabet series. Here I feature a paramecium, lacrymaria, vorticella, euplotes, frontonia, and an assortment of other ciliate affiliates.
