Current reads and I’m considering restarting The Artist Way for like the third or fourth time 🫠

Finished this a few days ago and I can’t stop thinking about it. It’s a fever dream of a read. Unhinged wild women might be my genre.

I can’t relate to the “mom is stuck inside during nap time while everyone is out partying and not checking in on her” memes. I live for nap time while at a family gathering. An hour of silence? No small talk? Trust me, I’m good.

I just don’t think I should be hearing Empire State of Mind in 2024. Enough is enough.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but if all you accomplish this weekend is reading a riveting novel cover-to-cover whilst drinking multiple kettles of tea and consuming a scandalous amount of croissants, then you will have accomplished more than enough.

Next read. Again, barely read the description but it’s about people in a town who are dying off from some disease and they think it’s in the bread. Follows two couples. Apparently based on a true event.

Final verdict: amazing and devastating, wish I could read it for the first time again. Also need a physical copy of this and adding it to my short short shorrrt list of books to re-read.

Yes, libraries are invaluable for their collections and public services they offer, but also social contact without the expectation to interact with anyone or spend any money is so important to so many people

Also reading The Other Side: A Journey Into Women, Art and the Spirit World by Jennifer Higgie and Upstream by Mary Oliver . I think I’ll just share my reads here because no one in my life cares enough lmaoo don’t ask me how I have time to read. I just carry a book around and read.

New book: I Who Have Never Known Men. I try not to look at the descriptions but women are trapped in a bunker with now knowledge as to why engaged by men who don’t speak to them. It’s written as one long diary entry so far and I have to remind myself that I have a life every time I pick it up.

One random day I started writing and it’s stuck for a few months now which has led to me joining random writing sessions. So far I’ve learned my vocabulary needs some help and I can’t spell anything without autocorrect.

But also take me back to a night out where I’m not tired by 8pm 🫠

Hearing about my sister’s nights out make me realize how much I do not miss hanging out in someone’s small ass dorm room drinking really bad liquor and hearing people get mad about did or didn’t put up for a bottle lol

Recommendation:

At your public library, check out gorgeous art books this winter.

You know, that huge type of book you wouldn't necessarily buy -- but is a glory to keep company with for awhile.

Final verdict: Monstrillo is the best thing I’ve read this year and I will be buying a physical copy so I can reread it every year.
