The Beast That Shouted PENIS at the Heart of the World, Slightly Louder Than the Previous Beast

Beat Mario Wonder last night. What an absolute delight of a game. Super inventive 2D platforming with a new gimmick in almost every level, and I couldn't wait to see what creative, trippy, surprising effect each Wonder Flower would hold. Nintendo's still got it, in case that was ever in doubt.

The national stereotypes are unfortunate, and the premise is of course very goofy. But if you give G Gundam a chance, you'll be rewarded with an surprisingly emotional and engaging story with likeable characters. This will sound strange now, but so far it's the only Gundam series that's made me cry.

Finally beat Tears of the Kingdom. In many ways it's a bigger, deeper, richer game than Breath of the Wild, and yet it couldn't quite recapture the same magic. BotW sparked a very specific, nostalgic emotion of pure wonder and awe in me that I hadn't felt since playing the original Zelda on the NES.
