Philip Randolph and the unionization of the black porters of Pullman Rail Company during the 1920’s. A story that is important to the history of organized labor, and stands to inspire us today as we keep fighting!

With the inauguration of the Trump administration occurring only two days ago, we are compelled by our values to make a statement:
We stand against attacks on our immigrant colleagues, regardless of documentation. We stand against unconstitutional attacks on birthright citizenship. 1/3 🧵
Image shows the logo of NMSU-NEA, above the text "GWU stands with the faculty union as they begin collective bargaining! We support each other because we're stronger together. Good luck NMSU-NEA, and never let them forget: NMSU works because we do!". Below the text is a photo of NMSU faculty union organizers, fists raised.

While this is a win, we've still got a lot of work to do, and a lot of room to grow as a union. At roughly 175 members, we're doing well, but are a ways away from majority. Not to mention, there are departments we don't have a single member in! 2/5
05.12.2024 04:21 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0On a black background, the left side of the image displays two stacked, poorly hand-drawn pie charts. The top pie chart is roughly 70% shaded in lime green, and blue handwritten text above states "69% participation". The bottom pie chart is more of a shaded-in circle, also lime green, and handwritten text above it states "100% approval". The right half of the image is entirely blue handwritten text, that reads "Our members have voted to ratify the tentative agreement reached by the bargaining committee!".
GWU members:
You voted UNANIMOUSLY to approve the tentative agreement reached by the bargaining committee! We have a new contract!! 🎉
Let's enjoy this win, and remember that the fight is not over. 🧵1/5
