Remember those patterns? Our article is finally out on @naturecomms.bsky.social and you can read what disordered marvels caused them! Thanks to @nchampness.bsky.social @ellamschmidt.bsky.social & all the great scientists I joined in this journey ๐

You should also consider the diffuse scattering satellite right before the conference: ecanews.org/sig-14/2025/...
05.03.2025 13:15 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 1You also geek out on disordered & defective materials? I and @hannabostroem.bsky.social are organizing a dedicated session at the coming 35th European #crystallography meeting: we'd love to see and showcase your research โจ
Submissions are open at ecm35.org until 30th April, consider joining us!
True the Fourier is typically slow, but the generation of the disordered model is at the moment even slower, I guess. But the Reverse Monte Carlo community should be able to benefit a lot
06.12.2024 08:14 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0definitely not just the speed, I can spot the Braggs in there!
05.12.2024 06:56 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I would be tempted to try and fit this data with this approach: journals.aps.org/prmaterials/...
Is the raw data available?
@stecanossa.bsky.social I guess you would be a master of this :-)
27.11.2024 20:36 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Michael Fischer (@zeolitemifi.bsky.social) has uncovered an especially severe case of fraud involving a scientific journal. Read the whole story here:

That looks really cool, also to figure out the different types of stacking and how they are related.... So I guess I have two weeks till my lecture where I want to talk about close packing to start shopping and building....
30.10.2023 14:53 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Oh, I should also prepare such large structural models for our lectures. 3D works so much better than just showing them on screen.
30.10.2023 13:47 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Thank you! I keep telling myself that I should try to sell diffraction patterns as art or bathroom tiles to raise funds for the research :-)
