Anarchists: Government Shutdown Doesn't Go Far Enough If the government shuts down, who will funnel our taxable income to military contractors? Who will tap our phones and read our email? Who will deport and imprison people? Whatever shall we do?

Essentially, the government shutdown represented a Democratic Party effort to present itself as opposing the Republican agenda despite lacking the political power to halt it. It was always performative.
