Totally! I thought everything was engaging up until the reveal. It lost me! The red herrings were less of a payoff and more like a rip off. It wasn't for me. But I'm also not as versed in the mystery genre, so what do I know?? Haha!

VIGIL explores whether mulish greed deserves comfort in the end. Its attempts at humor nearly lost me, but I was won over by the fiercely human evaluation of life in the face of death. It was tender, sad, and anti late stage capitalism. Always a plus!

SLEWFOOT is dark & captivating. Dread of the unknown shifted to the horror of human nature when monsters were made from ideals. Abitha's strong will & tenacity was easy to cheer on in a community of hypocrisy. Crisp writing & high stakes made a satisfying ending.
