I also just enjoy ripping the CD’s to flac and making sure all the tags are right and adding the right album artwork and organizing the folders just right. I don’t know why that is a calming activity for me but it is.

Like, yeah, records have the cool factor and sure, jazz just sounds better on vinyl for some reason, but CD’s sound just as good if not better (especially compared to the beat up records that are actually affordable), and you still get the upside of album artwork, too, but it won’t break the bank.

I started buying CD’s recently to rip for my plex server, and I think I’m a CD guy now. You can get like ten CD’s for $30. You’d be lucky to walk out of the store with three LP’s for that kind of money these days.

Then if you like the more conventional song structures, go back to their early stuff, if you like the more experimental songs you can move on to their later stuff.

I’m trying to think of a good entry point, because there is kind of a stark diving line between their early work and later work, and most people wind up preferring one over the other. Rubber Soul and Revolver are kind of the transitional albums between the periods, so maybe start there.
