Exciting times for the journal, folks. In the last 10 days, we've accepted our first manuscript and issued "accept, pending" decisions on two others.

It's fab seeing the work come together, from remarkably rigorous and detailed peer review to equally detailed and engaging Author replies. =)

So, if you'd like to beat that rush, get your papers over to us now. We're fully open-access, and we'll consider any manuscript that would fit the broad editorial call for our host association, ICA.

We suspect that with the @icahdq.bsky.social deadline approaching in early November, we'll see a dramatic uptick in submissions.

We also accepted our first two papers, which will be among the five or six we expect in our inaugural issue - early- to mid-2026!

It's time again for our bi-monthly updates! Submissions are a tick down, but of 10 submissions:

* Five were desk-rejected with feedback, in an average of 3.4 days.
* Five were peer-reviewed and sent back with major revisions, in an average of 37.4 days (longest was 41 days)

Oh we're sorry - make that "our first *TWO* acceptances." Y'all are about to see some pretty fantastic @icahdq.bsky.social scholarship in our pages. Details of #2 coming, once we get the final edits. =)

By applying the RISP model in a transnational digital context and presenting Rednote as a case illustrating platform affordances, this study offers insights for designing inclusive digital health communication for migrant communities.

Participants employed both surface-level and analytical strategies to assess credibility, emphasizing Rednote’s role in supporting health decision-making and adaptation to unfamiliar healthcare systems.

Semi-structured interviews with 21 Chinese migrants across multiple countries, analyzed thematically, revealed
that participants use Rednote for low- and high-risk physical and mental health concerns, driven by cultural congruence, emotional reassurance, community trust, and instrumental utility.

Drawing on the Risk Information Seeking and Processing (RISP) model, it explores the health topics sought, motivations for using Rednote, and strategies for evaluating reliability.

As digital platforms increasingly shape health information-seeking, understanding how migrants navigate them is crucial. This study examines why and how Chinese migrants use Rednote, a Chinese-based social media platform, to access local health information.
