By charging so little for your commissions, you ultimately have to accept so many to be able to live. You will burn yourself out so incredibly fast, trust me. Yes, raising your rates means fewer clients, but you will ultimately earn the same without risking burnout.

Art is a luxury, please treat it as such. You can and should charge $20-$50 an hour depending on your skill level. Yes, there will always be clients who decline because of your rates, but that's just how it is.

Please respect yourself, your time and your work. I constantly see these insanely detailed and rendered commissions for only $150-$200. Those pieces must've taken between 15-20h minimum which means they charged $10 an hour, which is below minimum wage in my country.

It always pains me to see how many insanely skilled artists charge way too little for their work. So many of them go below minimum wage. Don't do this to yourself.
