I also have a Miyoo Mini+ and it handles up to the PlayStation but for PS2 you’ll need something with a bit more power and joysticks. I use my SteamDeck but for something smaller and less than half the price, Retroid and Ayn make cool things.

👏 flavor text aside, I've flipped through TTRPG books that read more like manuals (and to be fair, they are) but I'm really enjoying each page turn.

One thing, I've searched but found nothing for playing solo. I'm a #ttrpg n00b but assume it's possible, perhaps SoloDark could be adapted? Mythic?

Ha. I literally just caved and ordered the discounted D&D Starter Set, Stranger Things: Welcome to the Hellfire Club and the first post in my feed is Vecna’s Baker’s Dozen. Kismet.

I stumbled upon HMtW last year while looking into the game ShadowDark. Its logo, which makes use of the same John Bauer piece as my ourobous tattoo, immediately caught my eye. Centered around dungeon exploration it uses tarot cards instead of dice, just a beautiful book that feels made for me.

It’s here! A preorder item had caused a delay but His Majesty the Worm has arrived.

I am very thankful for these two books. Last night my wife and daughter created their characters for Magical Kitties Save the Day, and we’ll soon be starting our first adventure and what’s hopefully the first of many family game nights. That aside, I’ll be playing Shadowdark and His Majesty the Worm

The Sly Flourish book just arrived and I’m only 1/4 or so into So You Want To Be… and it’s outstanding. One might be inclined to think, “Yes, of course. Obviously” but that’s only because it is so well written as the limitless yet rules-bound nature of trying to run/play a TTRPG isn’t obvious.

Perhaps the most intimidating thing about TTRPGs is that versus a board game where the rules/gameplay are clearly defined, when playing a RPG you really only have guidelines for an otherwise blank canvas and how the game unfolds is up to the imaginations of those playing.

As a kid in the 80s/90s, I always wanted to play D&D but never had the friend group. The closest I got was convincing my two besties to play MTG (a thing we still do 30+ years later) but I now have my family at my disposal and there are also solo-play rulesets.
