Yeah I had goofy shit happen but no soft locks. That train car that blocks the path and forces you through the tunnel, I got knocked through it to the other side, some NPCs wouldn't activate their side missions, had a bit where enemies wouldn't spawn. Nothing problematic just annoying.

I've seen a lot of people draw art of Kasane Teto fat, but she'd often be depicted as unhappy or a slob.

I didn't like that, so I wanted to draw her fat and happy. I tried to model her like an opera singer. Let me know what you think!

When this moment hit I literally said out loud "Uh oh," because I knew the rest of the game was going to be like this and I was right, and literally no fight for the entire remainder of my playthrough was a struggle. What kept fucking me up was not a fight. That final section is so shit, brother.

This game coulda got out while it was ahead, but it feels like they felt the obligation to somehow put any amount more content in the game and the last hour of my playthrough only made the score drop for me. Coulda came in at an 8, by the end it was a 7. That final sequence is so shit, brother.

It really feels like they want you to switch between characters during your playthrough, and maybe on normal that feels more reasonable to do, but even just considering it as an option I was thinking why the fuck would I ever do that? But then the game is pretty repetitive sticking to one character.

The fact that NOTHING changes during your playthrough besides unlocking more assists (I basically never used them) definitely helps make the game feel pretty long in the tooth. You really start to just fall into the pattern of play and that's a little rough after a couple hours.

I wouldn't say the game falls apart by the end because that's way too dramatic, but the back quarter really starts to overstay its welcome and the like actual busywork they force you through was really pointless and time wasting and wasn't fun or interesting. Shouldn't have even been there.

4 and a half hours for my playthrough, which sits in that perfectly awkward middle ground of too long to replay a lot, not long enough to feel substantial on a first playthrough. There's an achievement for speedrunning the game in 90 minutes so you can get the time down, but I don't care man.

2 doesn't fix most of the issues that 1 had save for a few, but it adds so much content and new good stuff that it's a pretty different experience overall. Like they're similar, but 2 replaces 1. I tell people don't even bother with 1 just skip it and go to 2.

TBH I would rather the boss fights be a cakewalk because fighting one enemy is easy than the devs try to figure out a way to balance around the player being a beastlord and make them dog shit annoying to fight and invincible half the time.

Annoyed that the River City send up has such a bad boss fight.

Also getting increasingly annoyed that every boss fight has one trick and that one trick is "Hey wouldn't it be funny if I spawned a bunch of enemies?"

Oh absolutely. RCG was very fiercely trying to make a game that anyone could play but there would be more for the insane people like me. Even this type of extended juggle sequence doesn't even really help you because most enemies would die 1/4th of the way through, it's just for fun.

Didn't have access to my PC so I couldn't post this earlier when talking about SPEX vs RCG2.

I get people dislike River City games for starting you out so simple and forcing you to unlock your moveset, but tbh the end result is so much more than most beat em ups offer, and RCG is the baby game.

They mention in the article that it's not revenue, it's unit sales, so I think the reading between the lines takeaway is people are buying older games in bulk and Capcom is usually pretty good at removing Denuvo after a year or so.

It's definitely not a low tier beat em up, it's pretty good in most ways, it's just not sauced to the gills like a lot of modern beat em ups are. If this one came out in 2010 it would have been a modern classic and one of the best in class. In 2026, other games got way too good and leaped this one.

SNK when they get crossover characters tend to go very far to give characters special treatment so they're more functional in their games. Ken in COTW got every move he's ever had in his life and they made everything juiced with even more stuff and he was still kinda wack, and that's not even KOF.

SF6 Alex is the first Street Fighter character that I've looked at and thought that without SNK giving them the giga massage treatment would work in KoF pretty well probably.
