Weekends are now just for protesting.

My sign from yesterday’s protest in #TraverseCity against #ICE. About 2k of us showed up. That felt good.
Later, a MAGA dude tried to shame me for my sign, then walked away while yelling something like Stop being divisive! I turned around and screamed Stop being a douchebag. That felt even better.

The entity who calls himself POTUS, referred to the “No Kings” protests, the “Hate America Rally”, and wanted the Nobel Peace Prize, posted this AI video of himself dropping the contents of his diaper on Americans exercising their First Amendment rights.

Who is the one who really hates America?

I volunteered at the Immigration Law & Justice office recently. I have a PhD & I did clerical work in a small, hot office. Volunteering is mostly about just showing up to do whatever needs done to lighten the burden of nonprofit workers a little. We can all do something. Go get into your community!

I wrote about this a bit in my last book but it really shakes me that a defining feature of this catastrophic era is that we just keep going to work. We work through pandemics, we work through natural disasters, we work through economic calamity, we work through coups, we work, we work, we work.

Good day to remember that a US President has no inherent power over tariffs whatsoever. It’s not like war powers or pardons. It’s entirely delegated by Congress to deal with emergencies. GOP Congress cld modify that law tonight and bring this to a screeching halt.
