Stone Age farmers’ households passed from mother to daughter
Moms and daughters were at the center of the family in ancient Çatalhöyük, ancient DNA and archaeological evidence suggest
The nature of Neolithic society is one of the most debated topics in archaeology–a debate that's almost impossible to settle w/ conventional methods alone. Now, new DNA data from a site in Turkey called Çatalhöyük points to a significant role for women: www.science.org/content/arti... @science.org

A close-up photograph of a mother bonobo (Pan paniscus) seated between her two children in their natural habitat. The mother is touching the face of her child standing to her right while her youngest, seated to her left, watches them both.
@berthetmelissa.bsky.social et al. report that bonobo (Pan paniscus) vocalizations have nontrivial compositionality, challenging the belief that this is a uniquely human trait. Bonobo communication involves complex meaning structures, not just simple combinations! 🧪

🚨 New paper on ArXiv:
“Uncertainty quantification and posterior sampling for network reconstruction”
TL;DR; We present an efficient method to sample the entire ensemble of possible network reconstructions that are compatible with an indirect observation, e.g. a dynamics.
