Relieving glucose-mediated carbon catabolite repression to engineer antibiotic over production in Streptomyces species | Doctoral Training Partnership HUTCHINGS_J25DTP2

Funded 4-year PhD with me & @barriewilks.bsky.social. We've found a way to make Streptomyces bacteria over-produce antibiotics in the presence of glucose. Could be a game changer. This PhD project aims to understand how it works.

Could be fungal! Rhodotorula is a fairly common red pigmented environmental yeast...which unfortunately I only really found out about because of long forgotten yoghurt at the back of the fridge.
