This entire thing was a moral panic, and I am confident they'll make the correct decision here and reverse course on it. That they are scrambling in circles trying to justify and deflect shows that the pressure on them is working.

Nothing in my games, which were targeted in this, is illegal at all. Almost nothing in itch's new ToS - in the context of fiction - is illegal at all.

Even long after this is all done, I think this is a sign that we need to remain coordinated and committed to keeping an eye out for one another!

Calling these numbers comes across as creepy and may end up getting you in trouble. None of the people I've seen that have claimed to call have even managed to accomplish anything, they are bragging about being scolded for calling in the middle of the night. Call regular support numbers please!

Folks, regarding the situation with payment processors censoring adult games - people have claimed to have leaked the numbers of various CEOs. Please do not call these numbers if they are not publicly listed on the sites.They are unverified and calling them does nothing to help.

since last week's deindexing of nearly all NSFW content on itch, a major indie game storefront, due to pressure from payment processors, artists and fans have been organizing and calling financial companies en masse to turn back the tide of censorship. in their eyes, this clash was inevitable

I believe you mistyped the handle! To save that person having to deal with any misfortune from what was said about the petition, it is me that people will want and not that person.

As an update, waiting some time I was eventually able to submit complaints against all four companies.

I just wish I had put more effort into building up my bluesky - it was just easier to use other platforms where I had more reach. I've shread your thread and doc in all those places too of course!

I've figured out you can disable purchases and prevent new downloads of your games via configuration settings while editing the game's page. I am hoping that is enough to hold out until I figure out a way to ensure people who purchased the game and retain access to it.

Also, again I doubt I'll get anyone with how small my reach is here - but I'd appreciate some help in figuring out what I should do in regard to my paid games on itch. I'm not like the payment processors trying to gut my income, and I want to make sure people continue to own what they bought!

Payment processors should not be who determines other people's personal morality.

This isn't the fault of any developer, this is a push from those with power against a group that they view as an easy target for an easy 'win'. It is, again, something that should be pushed back against.

This is a moral panic, plain and simple - and any single developers being pulled out from the crowd as a scape-goat are being done so to further that moral panic. Do not feed into it by attacking them or saying 'if only not for x game or y dev!'. We do not have to cede ground.

The new guidelines are vague enough to where they'd ban several very popular games, and could potentially be weaponized against entire communities with the right justification 'x group is pornographic'. This needs to be something that has push-back against it.

Others have already pointed out the utility in depicting these things in media from non-erotic standpoints. However, even from erotic ones it is fictional content that hurts no one directed at adults wherein all characters are owned by consenting parties. It is also a stepping stone to go further.

I do not know how much of a reach I'll have, but I want to state that anyone making concessions on the itch guidelines regarding adult content - saying that 'well its okay if they ban x as long as its not y' should reconsider.

It may be 'unpopular', but this is fictional, and legal, content.

I could only submit complaints against two of the four before it stopped me from submitting any more of them.

This puts me completely out as all my games involve hardcore themes, I'll be looking into alternative platforms - and also ways to avoid giving any money to the vile people behind this moral panic.
