A sunny day + book token to spend = perfect day off work!

Hay fever seems to start earlier every year - it was 18 degrees here the other day which set off the equivalent of a pollen bomb. Idiot that I am, I walked through the park on the way to ringing 🙄

We were ‘glued’ out of Tower One today so had hot chocolate in the Forum instead - at Tower Two a shortage of enthusiasm meant I had to ring in the Grandsire, my hay fever made this quite taxing all round. Sadly there was no Stedman

Currently entertaining myself with the Allister Heath headline generator…

It was just too exciting - I really wish I could just calm down a bit 😂

The ropes at Tower One were soaking wet and stiff, so although ‘fun’ to ring this didn’t aid our striking - mortified that I went wrong in the Stedman at Tower Two 😭 overjoyed at making cats ears at the single I then went back in the wrong way 🙄

Cheery practice night - ringers a bit thin on the ground so plenty of ringing for all there - yes there was Stedman 💕 - for some reason EVERY bell I rang had rather a lot of tail end so I mostly spent the evening slapping myself in the face 🙄

The bellringers got a mention in the sermon at Evensong tonight (and no it wasn’t a reference to any sinful behaviour) 😊

Snow indeed - here’s current snowy rooftop view. Sadly all slushy so not enough for ⛄️ or 🛷

Sadly we had Stedman Troubles at both towers this morning ☹️ our PB Minor at Tower One, however, passed muster, and I rang Cambridge and Sandal at Tower Two 😊 - a visiting German enthusiast stood outside in the snow to record us at both towers - not quite sure what he made of our performance!

Practice night back in the tower - great to be back on real bells and annoying the neighbours with our crashing about. Definitely not a night for attempting any Cambridge Major

I feel I have already aced Valentines Day - tickets for Wuthering Heights now booked 💕 Quid pro quo will be having to cook steak for Spouse …

Non-ringing things I learnt at ringers’ coffee:
- Puy lentil plants look like mange tout ones
- Lions in Africa are losing their manes
- One of the band sleeps with a navy cutlass by their bed, in case of intruders

We made a loud celebratory noise at Tower One to herald our return now the tower is safe - at Tower Two we rang Stedman and Sandal, and I called a touch of Grandsire without stuffing it up. That’s more than can be said for the call changes …

DNCBM is a massive achievement - fun is absolutely the way to go!

The last thing we need is bland, anodyne spaces with beige carpets - I’m totally here for the land that time forgot and the kookier the better 😊 (Although pleased of course when Trevor mended the chair and we got a new cushion for the bench!)

A great little practice night! We managed Sandal Treble Bob at our first attempt, a nice touch of Cambridge, and some old favourites like Slapton Slow Course, St Martins and St Simons. We also had some AMAZING and deliciously sticky caramel and pistachio (I think) walnut whips 😋

Love a request night at ringing practice, especially on the training bells - I sneaked more than one thing onto the list and enjoyed the Stedman Triples and treble bob hunt on eight. We also achieved two leads of Cambridge Major 🎉 only downside was having to ring Aberdare Triples 🥱

Tonight the practice wasn’t in our own tower, so not our chocolates. Although we all tucked in enthusiastically, we did restrict ourselves to just the one chocolate break 😇

Huge fun practice on the training bells tonight! The learners in particular got a great work out with lots of call changes, plain hunt, Bistow Triples and Big Change Little Change. Great to see such good progress, and a full (when we started) tub of chocolates too 😀

Although not full of beans I hope you were all full of chocolate 😊

Tower One still out of order, and at Tower Two there were 14 ringers for six ropes! - I still managed to ring three times though, as I have a special dispensation that allows me to always ring in the Stedman 😀💕

A busy practice night that included: a lovely visitor, a whole AGM, a moisture meter, chocolates and, of course, as much ringing as we could fit in - we did run out of time to ring down though!
