I miss the days when @mrjamesob would come back from a break with the words ‘a change of pace now’. After 8 hours on Mandelson last week (and no Mystery Hour) and 3 hours on Starmer, I need some light with the shade.

Can someone let me know when the @mrjamesob.bsky.social show has emerged from the Westminster speculation bubble? It's like listening to Camilla Whatsherchops filling time waiting for some Royals to turn up for an event

"Governments should behave more like businesses and that would make them more efficient" said business in Thatcher's Britain. Look where that got us. Governments are there to provide services for their citizens, not to provide profit for the private sector.

Starmer is well regarded globally but not in the UK. Wonder if it's anything to do with our press and social media?

I used to see Ferrari on This Morning (before that turned to complete trash) doing their 'Are you for or against! No nuance!' slot. He used to look a bit sheepish afterwards. Now he seems to fully embrace that shtick. Maybe he learnt to live with the cognitive dissonance for the cash.

You can always tell it’s the start of the new year when telemarketers reinstate all the old contacts on their list and we all are startled when the landline suddenly bursts into life

After reviewing my social media choices I'm only on this platform and Instagram now. But I looked up alternatives for my dog's tracking device on Safari and now I can't go on Instagram anymore as there are more ads for one particular dog tracker than actual posts from accounts I follow

Dammit. I wanted a Labour/Green coalition at the election. I want Labour to be stronger on climate issues. I am tempted to go Green but then I see you guys saying Starmer is talking "drivel" when I am largely happy with his direction of travel and I stay put.

Is the mad behaviour of the US administration simply a distraction from the dementia? If they all behave the same as Trump it will somehow normalise his fluctuating mental state and no one will try to have him removed from office?

I live in a solid house – low and wide and hunkered into the ground. Even the internal walls are solid brick. But it's 1m above sea level all that separates it from that sea is about 5km of flat land. Storm Goretti is pretty scary.

I agree with @urbaneprofessor.bsky.social – I use my Instantpot for slow cooked dishes, rice, biryani, steaming veg, pressure cooking all sorts of things. Plus it makes a litre of superb Greek yoghurt for me every week.

Another day, another YouGov survey and yet another day since the last election when the survey doesn't ask my voting intention if there were to be an election tomorrow. I've been doing YG surveys since it started and my answer to this question has always been Labour. 🤔

Every Saturday is Small Business Shopping for is. Veg box from the smallholder, fish from the fishmonger, meat, milk and eggs direct from the farm. Cook up a storm for the week, bake some biscuits, a couple of loaves and maybe a cake.

Women’s Institute will no longer accept trans women as members from April
Exclusive: CEO says decision taken with ‘utmost regret and sadness’ after supreme court ruling on definition of a woman
I, a cis woman, left my WI after becoming fed up with many of the members clinging on by their fingernails to outdated views. The world is changing and we all should embrace the future and not cling on to the past.

Why do people on trains grab the table seats and then sit opposite each other then shout at each other over the noise of the train? Why don't they just sit next to each other? #entitlement #nomanners

The BBC is the envy of the world. It is most precious jewel in the slightly tarnished crown that is the UK right now.

I've been an enthusiastic filler-in of polls for over 40 years. I've been a member of the Labour Party for longer. Over the last few months the amount of polls I've been sent by YouGov at al has fallen through the floor.

@mrjamesob.bsky.social Richard Branson was in a motorway crash in the 90s and was told that if he hadn’t been in a Range Rover he would have died and he changed all his company cars to RR. He didn’t shut up about it for a long time. Perhaps that started the big car thing.
