This was very literally my first time behind the wheel in a car in Japan. I spent some time doing image training and imagining myself driving, but I spent exactly zero minutes in a car practicing.

It was an interesting challenge, not eased by the person before me failing and having to end early😨😭

It’s a long process. I called in early July to make a reservation for the initial document check, which wasn’t until mid-September at the earliest. Then I passed the paper test in late September (earliest date I could), and then the road test today (again, earliest date available)

I don’t think I’ve ever used a “find your contacts!” feature on any app, at least not intentionally😂

I passed the license conversion road test today here in Japan (from my American license to a Japanese license). Given the time of year, I thought I could avoid the snow, but I wasn’t so lucky. But with plenty of experience driving in icy conditions, it wasn’t a problem!
