When authoritarian regimes limit free speech and control social media, the "free speech" broligarchs are quiet.

When democratic countries enforce their laws, they cry and demand retaliation.

Funny how that works.

We reject the disastrous "climate change" and "Net Zero" ideologies that have so greatly harmed Europe, threaten the United States, and subsidize our adversaries.

But this economic decline is eclipsed by the real and more stark prospect of civilizational erasure. The larger issues facing Europe include activities of the European Union and other transnational bodies that undermine political liberty and sovereignty, migration policies that are transforming the continent and creating strife, censorship of free speech and suppression of political opposition, cratering birthrates, and loss of national identities and self-confidence.
Should present trends continue, the continent will be unrecognizable in 20 years or less. As such, it is far from obvious whether certain European countries will have economies and militaries strong enough to remain reliable allies. Many of these nations are currently doubling down on their present path. We want Europe to remain European, to regain its civilizational self-confidence, and to abandon its failed focus on regulatory suffocation

Hiski Haukkala: Miksi sota on turvallisuusuhka, johon reagoidaan – toisin kuin luontokato? Venäjä sai Nato-maat investoimaan jättisumman puolustukseensa. Luonnon kestävyyskriisin kohdalla vastaavaa ei tapahdu, kirjoittaa Hiski Haukkala.

Ulkopoliittisen instituutin johtaja @haukkala.bsky.social esittää tärkeän kysymyksen
"Venäjän uhka on johtanut konkreettisiin toimiin turvallisuuden parantamiseksi. Miksei niin näytä käyvän #ilmastonmuutos ja #luontokato kohdalla?"

It should be obvious by now that we cannot make the future of human civilisation dependent on whether the fossil fuel vendors vote for ending fossil fuel use.
Rather, it is up to those who buy fossil fuels to end their lethal addiction fast, before it is too late.

US tells EU to 'roll back' digital rules against US tech companies | Euractiv US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick dangled the "carrot" of US giants investing in EU data centres in exchange for "reasonable" laws – and the "stick" of tariffs

Thanks, but no thanks. We don't want Amazon, Microsoft and Google to invest a trillion dollars in datacenters in Europe that will bring data of EU citizens within reach of Trump and will lock-in our digital dependence for decades to come.

We need to start building our own digital infrastructure.

Will BigTech and their bosses one day be viewed as the heads of BigOil, who knew the negative impact their products had on humans, but not only chose to ignore it but actively work against any remedial action?

Also, I wonder why most of them don't want their kids to use their services?

Agree. Coalition of the Willing has to stop deluding itself that after a ceasefire on reasonable terms it will send symbolic forces to Ukraine w US backing. UK, France, Germany, Poland &c must invest whatever it takes to defeat RU in UA, or they will have to fight it, without US help, further West.

1.2.2 Temperature outcomes in the scenarios
The long-term global average rise in temperatures above pre-industrial levels was around 1.4 °C in 2024 and since 1980 has been increasing by around 0.2 °C per decade. All scenarios exceed warming of 1.5 °C by around 2030, but differences in climate outcomes between the WEO scenarios begin to emerge after 2035.
In the CPS, warming exceeds 2 °C around 2050, reaches 2.9 °C in 2100, and is set to keep rising from there (Figure 1.5).

It's astounding how much CO₂ we put into the atmosphere each year by burning fossil fuels.

For comparison, we all agree that plastic pollution is bad, but the mass of ALL THE PLASTIC humanity has ever produced is only 25% of the CO₂ we emitted into the atmosphere in 2025.
