Now available: @ianseedauthor.bsky.social’s
Forgetfulness, from Shearsman Books.

In its tragicomic navigation of different forms of loss, Forgetfulness moves from the allegorical to the abstract lyric, through to the surreal-absurd, & finally to a series of splintered memories….

I like the word ‘peregrination’ and also its Latin root (peregrinus, "foreign" or "traveling abroad"). It carries a sense of being a stranger, a pilgrim almost, wondering through the world.

Imtiaz Dharker

A very happy birthday to the wonderful Imtiaz Dharker (who'd be the UK's current poet laureate had she not turned the job down). Rather than post one of my many favourites, here's Imtiaz's selection of twenty of her own poems. Why not do your soul some good and read 'em all?

A correction: Martin Stannard's huge A Relation of Years (which I have in pdf) is a selected not a collected. Luckily I'm a huge fan & have all the individual collections/pamphlets. By way of apology a link to his new review of Joe Brainard's Complete C Comics internationaltimes.it/a-thing-of-b...

Quakers urge Keir Starmer to act on genocide underway in Gaza Quakers in Britain has written to the UK government, stating their belief that genocide is underway in Gaza and reiterating the call for an immediate ban on all arms sales to Israel.

🕊️ We urge Prime Minister Keir Starmer to act on the genocide underway in Gaza.

The UK must uphold international law, suspend the UK-Israel Trade and Partnership Agreement and end arms sales to Israel.

Silence is complicity. 🕯️👇

That’s one of the things I really like about this poem: how it can be read in different ways. Yes, the poem being half in shadow adds to its form and seems to embodies what it’s doing in a way. I love that the person behind your N is too far away to see by the end of the poem.

Thanks so much, Tristan. And that’s a reading of the poem which enriches my own understanding of it. I also like the fact that the text in the photo by Ian McMillan is half in shadow!

Love this poem by @ianseedauthor.bsky.social too. It speaks to me partly about how we sometimes get carried away in our own performances and can end up lost or trapped.
