Sweet deal? Maybe. But those planes can be resold… just like the UK’s “sweetener” of ethanol in its own US deal. Are these real trade wins, or just clever packaging of pre-planned purchases dressed up as diplomatic victories?

Just recently Indonesia secured a reduced tariff rate of 19% (down from the threatened 32%) alongside a commitment to purchase 50 Boeing jets. Meanwhile, other countries, including some of the world’s least developed, continue to face some of the highest tariffs.
