Omg im so happy I’m in a choir again from today and practice was so much fun now i will never stop being in choirs again this 20 year gap because of kids and life chaos is OVER 🙌 I’m ready to practice so much and give my life to this choir ✊

Okay I finished a first draft that is now sent to receive feedback. I’m surrounded by piles if books and my brain is mush. So the rest of the work day goes to drawing and listening to music 😌 (also a deadline for tomorrow though, the grind never ends 😅)

Beautiful weather today 🩵 I was out for grocery shopping and errands. But otherwise I’m stuck at the laptop all day working on an exiting research proposal with a very fast deadline 😅 If that all goes well I hope to be able to start a new large research related undertaking later this year ✍️

Also I have zero understanding for their voters who will rather see the welfare state dismantled than seeing black or brown people living here. They literally want everyone except the richest to suffer, rather than expanding their definition of ”Finnish” to include everyone with residency here.

Quotation marks for ”true” because for me anyone who lives in this geographical area can be a Finn or Finnish if that’s what they want. What that party means with ”true” though is based on racist ethno-nationalist ideology.

As someone who works with design in social&healthcare education in Finland I have to say the recent choice for minister for the sector makes me feel like throwing up. The ”True Finns” are detrimental for health&welfare in this country. They only care about playing a political game with this choice.

Luckily I’m employed now, but keeping a 5 person household (1 unemployed adult, 1 student, 2 under 18) going on only my salary is close to impossible 😓 and costs seem to increase wildly on all fronts.

The electricity prices this year will cause a lot of stress to many. Luckily our costs are normally quite low, but the Jan bill was already double. So far at 7.2 the costs are already up to 75 % of a normal month. So i’m guessing it will end up being 3x higher in Feb 😖 #pörssisähkö

I tried Claude today and made a meditation webpage with visuals and ambient sounds. I guess this is vibe coding? I'm not a programmer, but I've made an html page from scratch in 2003. This way was so simple.. and fun! Now I get the hype about how this will change programming as an occupation...

Pulling myself through this day with flu symptoms and migraine and a totally full schedule and organizing a public event in the evening. It will be fun I’m sure, and I really don’t want to miss it as the main organizer, but my body is like 🫠😓 Also not sure if my voice will last through the evening 😅

On the theme of huge work undertakings: I've been considering applying for a PhD position (again; was working on a thesis 2005-2013). This time I'll have options to do it as part of my job, which obviously changes the game completely. Living on research grants is horrible and been there done that 😝

I just realized what my theme will be for a next solo exhibition. I might have time to have one in 2027 😅 This year my artistic/freelance work will be mainly focused on illustrations for another history book. I'm just getting started on that more properly after some research done last year.

Today the winter weather has felt bitingly face hurtingly cold 🥶

The thing I will miss though are some custom brushes I bought many years ago and got used to. I have a certain HB pencil I like, and an ink brush and a smooth wide one I like for background and a painterly effect. So I'll need to find others. Or make them for myself perhaps..

It's funny how many clicks you have to go through to cancel an adobe subscription. Like being asked "are you sure" 6-7 times. I even said no to 3 months for free. It's creepy and predatory somehow.

Decided to try Affinity today and cancel my personal Photoshop subscription. Affinity seems like a perfectly fine substitute, and free. And vector, pixel and layout all in one program. Also, I'm tired of having to subscribe to everything. I still remember having Photoshop from a cd 😅

I am very pleased with all the good feedback I received these past two days. People were like ”ooh these images are so nice and cute” right next to me, not knowing I had made them 😁🥰🙏

Well that work is not nothing, I worked hard on it, and I’m proud of the results. I’m also often told I’m not behaving ”typically Finnish” 😅 Like for example I’m not shy or afraid of people in physical meetings, and I’m weirdly good at customer service type situations (but they are also draining).
