When politics are toxic enough that people wish to avoid them, there is a certain moral duty to address why this is. Furthermore, there is a certain moral duty in paying attention to politics, however unpleasant they are, under a democracy, for an uninformed voter shouldn't vote in the first place.

I like the sentiment, but the more these reparations are delayed, the less feasible they become. I doubt the current administration has any interest in clearing the debt, so I'm worried about the economic consequences of this refusal to compensate those who suffered in the days of yore.
