went to an arcade nearby, it's like 20 euros for 2 hours or 30 for the whole day. the paid machines have 99+ credit in them so u only play for time. the SDVX machines could be a little better maintained but it's playable (and the aux works!). might take a day off […]

And that’s really the issue, SteamVR. It’s a buggy mess on Linux, it rarely gets fixes, and some issues remain after years of being known about and reported. It’s a proprietary runtime, so there’s not much the community can do about it.

i got vrsl gi hooked up to my rain shader. only real difficult thing left to do is particle collisions. not sure if i go for the depth camera route or something more esoteric with SDFs. performance of the particles in vrchat is pretty negligible compared to everything else
