Maybe Iโ€™m trying to manifest a connection from Lang Loan to the path that doesnโ€™t exist! Itโ€™s been a while since I was on that section. Am terrible at remembering routes Iโ€™ve taken.

Sorry I missed this! I am Bad At Route-finding. From Burdiehouse you can go thru graffiti tunnel and take chances from there or stay on bike path north of bypass to Dalkeith turn off (Gilmerton rd) and going on shared surface past Dobbies to Eskbank. I find A772 roundabouts pretty navigable by bike.

That route does something odd around the bypass of you have to go through Straiton then back north under bypass. Iโ€™d probably take cycle path that skirts north of bypass around Burdiehouse and head under at Loanhead then make way from there to Eskbankโ€ฆ

Words on the Wave: Ireland and St. Gallen in Early Medieval Europe | Archaeology | National Museum of Ireland Discover how science, art, archaeology and the study of script help reveal the links between Ireland and Europe

Off to the โ€˜Word on the Waveโ€™ exhibition - perhaps a once in a lifetime opportunity to see these early medieval manuscripts together. Nicely coincides with finishing a project, 6th anniversary with Paul and turning another decade. Hope to celebrate by finding inspiration for the next book in Dublin.

Putting aside the facts that the "mega battleship" is clearly an aircraft carrier and that it is sailing *up* and not "down" the Forth, let us take this opportune moment to remind ourselves of the time an actual battlecruiser went up the Forth and almost took the bridge out.

Can anyone point me to a really good history of the urban effects of changing transportation in a case study non-"Western" city through the C19 and C20? I'm interested in things like employment and urban growth, but also in sociological effects (changing role of neighbourhood, etc.). Thank you!

The "Words on the Wave" exhibition is featured in @smithsonianmag.bsky.social
The article explores medieval marginaliaโ€”scribbled notes and doodles left by monks over a millennium ago.
