There was rumour that they were looking at a site in Heswall, Wirral. A lot of well off people live there. It didn't come to fruition.

I can't remember which store it was. It may have been Longridge, but couldn't swear to it.

I left wondering why they kept the Vintage Ales in a storeroom rather than put them on display.

I went to Booths a few years ago looking for Vintage Ale. There were only a few on the shelf, so I asked if there was any more in the storeroom. The colleague came back and said "No, but there are some from last year." I purchased the lot at a reduced, 'old stock' price. 1/2

I did that yesterday.

I'd go to match on a Friday night with 3 bob from my Mum. Two bob to get in, 6d. for a programme and 6d. bus fare. I'd walk instead of getting the bus and spend the sixpence on 6 scallops.

Or Wirral. A few stores sell it 'under the counter.'

The Magazine Hotel in New Brighton, Wirral, has always sold it. A throwback to the trading agreement, which meant that Draught Bass was sold in many Higson's pubs, including that one.

British or Imperial IPAs I like. Meantime used to brew an excellent bottle conditioned version. Phipp's of Northampton cask IPA is superb.

It's usually very good with excellent flavour. Was the pub reliable?

Bitter is best. I would be happy to lead the fight against IPAs.
