I'd rather have the HPA.

06.12.2025 12:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That is true. Rightly so.
05.12.2025 22:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0There was rumour that they were looking at a site in Heswall, Wirral. A lot of well off people live there. It didn't come to fruition.
05.12.2025 20:13 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Or could have been Hale (now closed).
05.12.2025 20:11 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I can't remember which store it was. It may have been Longridge, but couldn't swear to it.
05.12.2025 20:11 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I left wondering why they kept the Vintage Ales in a storeroom rather than put them on display.
05.12.2025 18:44 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I went to Booths a few years ago looking for Vintage Ale. There were only a few on the shelf, so I asked if there was any more in the storeroom. The colleague came back and said "No, but there are some from last year." I purchased the lot at a reduced, 'old stock' price. 1/2
05.12.2025 18:42 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Looks good.

05.12.2025 18:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Just adore this

04.12.2025 15:21 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0I had a very nice steak there. Of course, @bonsvoeux1.bsky.social will recommend the draught Bons VΕux.
04.12.2025 14:00 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0They rent them out in Cartmel, near the racecourse. There's a dozen or so tourists trundling down the country paths on them. Looks a bit surreal.
04.12.2025 00:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Joe Murphy, the Teanmere goalie, goes down with an injury in the 65th minute every week. Not sure if it is for a pre-planned team talk or because he's 44 and needs to lie down for a bit.
04.12.2025 00:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Two Belgian Christmas beers plus a St. Austell Extra Special Tribute.
Tonight's beers. The St. Feuillien and Bush were four years old. All excellent.

03.12.2025 16:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'd go to match on a Friday night with 3 bob from my Mum. Two bob to get in, 6d. for a programme and 6d. bus fare. I'd walk instead of getting the bus and spend the sixpence on 6 scallops.
03.12.2025 16:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Or Wirral. A few stores sell it 'under the counter.'
03.12.2025 15:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0How was it? I tried it earlier this year and found it underwhelming.
02.12.2025 22:44 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It's O.K. but nothing like the beer I remember in the 70s with famous Burton 'snatch.'
The Magazine Hotel in New Brighton, Wirral, has always sold it. A throwback to the trading agreement, which meant that Draught Bass was sold in many Higson's pubs, including that one.
British or Imperial IPAs I like. Meantime used to brew an excellent bottle conditioned version. Phipp's of Northampton cask IPA is superb.
02.12.2025 22:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's usually very good with excellent flavour. Was the pub reliable?
02.12.2025 22:23 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Bitter is best. I would be happy to lead the fight against IPAs.
02.12.2025 15:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Lucky to get a table.
