I can’t believe our provincial MLAs would be too lazy/ incompetent to create new legislation allowing every/ any single municipality to set their own default speed limit. Might be time to press our MLAs.

The location on the stop sign has no bearing on where you are required to stop.
I wish Councillors weren't so ignorant!

We consult things to death on bike lanes like its a major environmental assessment, but give near blank cheques for major road projects.

Great concise argument from Allan.
Who could possibly want to make neighborhood streets more livable after that insight!

These authors reviewed 73 previous studies examining car touchscreens.

Conclusion: They're awful

"Touchscreens tended to have negative effects on driving performance, visual attention, and secondary task performance compared with voice control and physical controls."

But if working people didn't have to give a big chunk of their money to banking, insurance, car and oil businesses just to be able to exist in society, what then? It's like you want to make Global Capital sad, Tom

I've largely stopped posting #HydrogenSoufflΓ© because it seems distasteful to dance on the graves of so many dreams. But... Aberdeen is flogging its hydrogen bus fleet for scrap.

How much money was wasted on this 100% predicable outcome? Will heads roll?

They made a promise to do something this year and we need to hold them to it. A permanent solution is likely a few years away at best. Lets not forget how slow our city moves on AT.

More transfers and more walking (on our poorly maintained sidewalks) added onto the already horrible service.

It takes a "special person*" to come up with a bylaw to infringe on people's rights, and then claim they're trying to protect the vulnerable.

Kitchener, Ontario, 1932.

Assertions to the effect that β€œpeople preferred to drive” are guesses in the guise of explanations. In cities, a minority of motorists degraded streetcar service for the majority.

I was all excited to post I finally found a road (Pentland in NK) where the sidewalk was plowed better than the street! But alas at Fortier I unexpectedly hit a pit deeper than my boot. Can you imagine if the road suddenly dropped 8 inches . #hazard @cityofwinnipeg.bsky.social @atcritic.bsky.social
