This week we have:
Decorated yummy biscuits for Food Technology, used concrete materials to help us understand more about Division, explored our new Talk For Writing poem based on the Magical Box, consolidated previous spelling digraphs.

This morning, we have consolidated our learning and knowledge of previous digraph sounds which we have explored and shown good confidence ⭐️

This week, we have explored properties of 2 and 3D shapes within Outer Numeracy.
We have been practising blending and using our knowledge of phonic sounds and diagraphs to sound our familiar and tricky words within Reading.
We have begun our innovative Talk for Writing piece.

➗ Division ➗

This morning, we used our multiplication facts of the 2, 5 and 10 times table to help us solve division sums.

Using concrete materials, we have been confident in sharing equally and grouping to help us identify the solution 😊⭐️

This morning, the Haven took part in an Author’s live event. We listened to Axel Scheffler’ story of Jonty Gentoo and drew along with him.

For Talk For Writing, we focused on up-levelling our sentences to add adjectives and connectives to create more detail ⭐️

This week we have focused on practising our new phoneme sounds, used our Story Map and Colourful Semantics to re-tell our Talk For Writing story. Created our names using Old Norse symbols for IDL. For Science, we used cabbage water to test the pH in other substances ⭐️

This morning for Literacy, we used concrete materials such as magnetic letters to help us build our spelling words.

For Reading, we practised our wonderful reading skills aloud and used our creativity skills to design a new front cover for our books ⭐️

Using Colourful Semantics and our co-constructed story map to re-tell our Talk For Writing story today ⭐️

For Health and Well-being, we explored the different things that makes us happy and help to “fill our bucket” ⭐️

Using phoneme story spotters and covering our Spelling words to help us practise writing our new sounds today ⭐️

This week, we have explored making good choices and what these look like when we are in the Haven and at School.

We have incorporated this into our understanding of being Ready, Safe and Respectful ⭐️

For Science this afternoon, we explored how solids can form from solutions by growing their own salt crystals.

Over the next week, we will carefully observe to see if our hypothesis is correct and observe changes in evaporation and crystallisation 🧫🧪.

Our lovely Winter trees we created for Art Therapy yesterday. We focused on using cool tones and worked on our skills of blending and shading ⭐️

This afternoon, we learned about The Feast of the Epiphany and the importance of this feast day.

To show our understanding we created a piece of artwork to display ⭐️

Happy New Year! We were surprised to find mysterious animal paw prints and a newspaper article about a wolf this morning in the Haven…
This introduced us to what our new Talk for Writing unit will be! 😊
We used our imagination and writing skills to help us with our cold piece of writing & Spelling ⭐️

Just reminder that tomorrow is Christmas Lunch and Christmas Jumper Day. We will still be having our PE slot in the Haven, if pupils could come dressed in their PE kit with their Christmas Jumpers.

Money, Money, Money

Today, we explored what money is, recognition of coins and notes in circulation and the combinations of making various amounts. We then had a go at being the shopkeeper using notes and coins resources ⭐️

Working together this morning, demonstrating the Metaskills of focusing, communicating and collaborating ⭐️

A busy Christmas week was had in the Haven, from planning our impromptu Nativity play, decorating the costumes to changing elements of our Talk For Writing story and lots of yummy Christmas baking!! ⭐️🎄
