I feel like a heckuva lot of cultures also have a variation on the fried-dough-plus-sugar formula. Donuts and their cousins.

The next cancer-fighting mRNA vaccine may already be here Early-phase research shows Covid mRNA vaccines could give immunotherapies a cancer-fighting boost.

Interesting. Preliminary research suggests that getting an mRNA covid vaccine makes cancer immunotherapy more effective.

Aww, poor thing. I'm so sorry. It's always so hard to know what's wrong with our furbabies.

Congrats on promotion! I too am moving up from D to C. Again. And for now. I tend to bounce back and forth. This was my most solid season yet, though. I was top two from MD6 onward.

Good lord. I'd say this looks more like the aftermath of a music festival than a funeral, except that we HAD a music festival here last weekend with similar numbers, and it didn't look ANYTHING like this shit pile.

We went to Greensboro Pride this weekend! My vocal group always kicks it off with the National Anthem, and this year we had a short set, too.

And a lot of the critique is so unconstructive, and it's not even isolated to one cranky diva judge this time. Even Nina, who is normally harsh but fair, is telling people their looks are awful instead of telling them what they could've done better. I think PR is in its catty era.

Ugh, I cringe every time she says something. But there's been *so much* talking back this season that I have to wonder if the producers are doing something off-camera to make them feel entitled to do it. The contestant-judge interaction just feels totally off compared to other seasons.

And the best part of seasons 2 through 20 was that none of them had a Wendy Pepper, but this season has like three of them.

It's got some fun changes, like the quippy little captions under their names. But ending every single episode on a cliffhanger is so pointless. Having an episode where the designers vote each other off was a totally un-PR vibe.

Finally, I knew Sabalenka because I try to follow tennis, and I probably would have put her regardless, but she was in a GWD quiz recently, which made me feel about 40% more confident in doing so. Currently in 2nd place in the rundle.

Furlong was a total guess. It was an answer on a podcast I listened to recently, but it was a totally different context. So it gave me no useful information, but it put the word in my head, and I put it down because I didn't have any alternate info that ruled it out.

On the USSR one, I scraped my Cold-War-childhood memory for the Russian words we were all supposed to know. "Glasnost" and "perestroika" popped in, but not their definitions. I stuck with glasnost because I wrote it down first, and it's more annoying when something is wrong *because* you changed it.

On Wiggles, I almost put Bluey because it's colorful and Australian, but the years and "ensemble" gave me pause. I had to ponder the title, but I saw a YouTube documentary about them at some point, and eventually my "Ruggles, Buggles, Biggles, etc." brainstorming got me to the right one.

I enjoyed "Fences," and we rewatched it prior to our trips to Pittsburgh last year, so while I already knew that Fences was one of the August Wilson plays, that rewatch solidified it for me as a Pittsburgh play/movie.

#LearnedLeague MD16 was a win! I missed just Unification Church. I knew it was semantically similar to Universal Life because I always mix them up, but I couldn't come up with it and just put Universal Life, which is not a cult but that mail-order ordination thing. I just didn't have a good guess.

"4. what’s one truth about work you wish bosses or workplaces actually understood?"

That remote work isn't sus. If the company is constructed to support it properly and hire people who know what they're doing, it works quite well and saves a lot of overhead.

"2. what do you do for work these days? is it what younger you imagined, or something you stumbled into?"

I edit trivia for a pub-quiz company. Definitely stumbled. Attempted academia, became distracted by playing online trivia, leveraged it into a real job.

I babysat once for $20. I tested video games once (a skateboarding game), and I don't remember how much. My first taxed job was at Blockbuster Video, and I made minimum wage, which I think was $4.75/hour at the time.

There's a simple test. Put RFKJr in a room with 100 unlabeled kids. Have him sort the vaccinated from the unvaccinated based on vibes or whatever he's claiming, and see how he does. He should welcome this chance to prove he's right in a scientific way.
