I love coffee, pets, and people who care about others more than power or money. Dislikes: racism and lima beans. Professional Christian, newspaper employee, public library trustee. Proud Pro-semite. She/her.

We must understand that Bibi doesn't care about Israel like Trump doesn't care about America. Hamas doesn't care about Palestine like Putin doesn't care about Russia or Ukraine.
It's all about power.

I am not in TX (so maybe my news feed was skewed) but in my recollection, Beto was firecely anti-gun. I can't imagine that helped his cause there either.

07.03.2026 16:23 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I was probably supposed to hate The Fifth Element too. But I first saw it when I was stuck alone in a hotel room all day (in 1998ish), and I found it totally fun. Context matters more than we probably give it credit.

There are parts that I really liked, particularly the world which necessitated the VR environment they mostly lived in. I remember wishing for more of that and way fewer transcripts of gameplay.
(My middle school son loved the book, though, probably *because of* that imbalance.)
In John 18:19-24, I can't help but feel some real Stanley Hudson energy in Jesus' responses to Annas.
(I doubt many of my congregants would get the reference, so I am sharing it here instead.)

07.03.2026 12:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I haven't done much with prison ministry (aside from the incarcerated people who ended up in the hospital I worked at), maybe it's another Bluesky friend who does more prisoner work?

I love Jason Mantzoukas. His interview on the Where Everybody Knows Your Name (Ted Danson) podcast was great, learned some new stuff.
Also, the WEKYN pod's ads are all for heart medications and AARP, which cracks me up.
That has been on my to-listen list for some time, but haven't tried it yet.

You could still get 18 holes of golf in after work during standard time. JUST GO TO WORK ONE HOUR EARLIER IN THE SUMMER!
Please pardon the yelling. I just can't understand why people want to change the _actual time_ instead of their business hours.
When I was in 7th grade (83ish), my friend's dad worked in IT at a university. He worked from home sometimes, in the living room, setting their telephone handset on a cradle for the dialup service. It was the wildest sci-fi shit I could imagine at the time.
