This was a deliberate strike on the heart of a civilian city – and one of the earliest symbols of how Russia would wage this war: terror against civilians, not a fight with the military.

Russian forces fired two Kalibr cruise missiles at the building, destroying its right wing from roof to basement and heavily damaging nearby buildings around Freedom Square in central Kharkiv.

💔 Exactly four years ago, on March 1, 2022, Russia hit the Kharkiv Regional State Administration building with cruise missiles.

According to regional governor Oleh Syniehubov, 44 people were killed, and at least 35 others were injured.

⚡️ Russian drone strikes the territory of a local school in Kharkiv, Mayor Ihor Terekhov said. No casualties were reported.

This is possible only because Ukrainians keep the country alive every day: soldiers, energy crews, rescuers, railway, postal, and utility workers, doctors – all doing the work that keeps Ukraine standing and moving forward.

And no matter how long the night lasts, morning always comes.

⚡️ Russia attacked Kharkiv with a kamikaze drone on the morning of March 1, injuring three people, according to regional governor Oleh Syniehubov.

Air Force recorded the takeoff of the Russian MiG-31K. It's the carrier of the Kh-47M2 Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missile.

⚡️ Russia struck an educational institution in Kharkiv with a Molniya drone. Emergency crews are currently working at the scene, according to Mayor Ihor Terekhov.

Odesa region: Two people were injured, including a child. A building on the grounds of a kindergarten was destroyed; a fire was extinguished.

Kharkiv region: One man was killed and a woman injured after a strike on private homes in Kupiansk district. A residential house was destroyed; the victim’s body was recovered from the rubble.

Zaporizhzhia region: Four people were injured, including a teenager, after a mass drone strike on a settlement in Zaporizhzhia district.

Sumy: Russia hit a hotel in the city center. During firefighting, a second strike targeted rescuers; 50 people were evacuated. No rescue workers were injured.

💔🪖🇺🇦 Ukraine has repatriated the bodies of 1,000 fallen Ukrainian defenders, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War said.

⚡️ Russia used 420 kamikaze/decoy drones and 39 missiles (24 cruise X-101, 11 ballistic Iskander-М/S-400, 2 Zircon anti-ship, 2 guided aviation missile X-69) to attack Ukraine on Feb. 26, Air Force said.

Russian forces mostly targeted energy facilities in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Poltava regions.

🇺🇦 The past few days have been intense for the media, with dozens of international delegations arriving in Ukraine.

Kyiv has hosted nonstop events across multiple venues, bringing together heads of state, lawmakers, volunteers, human rights defenders, and everyone who cares about Ukraine’s future.

Zelenskyy also said he instructed Umerov to “discuss the details of the exchange,” stressing: “We very much hope for positive results on this humanitarian track.”

🇺🇦's President added that he had instructed his team to focus on POW exchange talks and expressed hope for positive outcomes.

...adding it will be a bilateral meeting focused first on “the prosperity package – the package for Ukraine’s recovery.”

He added the team will also “prepare for a trilateral meeting, which will already include Russia,” which Ukraine expects “at the beginning of March.”

🇺🇦 President Zelenskyy said he had just spoken with NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov and outlined the next steps in talks with the U.S. and Russia.

“Tomorrow he will have a meeting with the 🇺🇸 negotiators: with Witkoff and Kushner,” Zelenskyy said,

“This is only a matter of time. It must happen as quickly as possible. We certainly feel the pressure to ensure it is delivered without delay,” she added.

Von der Leyen stressed that the new package must be adopted as soon as possible, given the shared goal of partners to reduce Russia’s revenues and weaken its war machine.

“None of these processes have been easy when negotiating any of the sanctions packages. But based on the experience of the 19th package, I am confident that we will also adopt the 20th,” she said.

According to her, sanctions decisions in the EU require unanimous agreement, and this principle will remain unchanged.

At the same time, she noted that work on the previous, 19th sanctions package was also difficult, but it was ultimately completed successfully.

In my question to @ec.europa.eu President Ursula von der Leyen @vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu, I asked why the new sanctions package had not been adopted and whether she could outline a timeline for its approval.
