Today is the 60th anniversary of Medicaid. About 25% of the child care workforce nationwide receives healthcare from Medicaid. ESCCC stands with Medicaid and all who benefit from it.

Well said, @ehaspel.bsky.social!

Members of our campaign's steering committee came together yesterday from across the state to plan our work on how to make child care for every family and a thriving wage for early childhood educators a reality in NY. We're not giving up until it's done.
23.07.2025 15:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We can't have a serious conversation about affordability without tackling the cost of child care. The cost for families, the low pay for the child care workforce, the waitlists and child care deserts. It can be solved with universal child care.

βAnti-immigrant policy can and will weaken our entire caregiving infrastructure,β said Karla Coleman-Castillo, senior policy analyst at the National Womenβs Law Center.

Joining our friends at @powherny.bsky.social in acknowledging Black Women's Equal Pay Day. The child care workforce is majority Black and brown women, and we won't stop fighting for the pay equity they deserve.

As an organization that focuses on building a child care system that serves every NYer, the Empire State Campaign for Child Care stands in strong opposition to this legislation, which will make it more difficult for children and families across the nation to access basic needs.

That's what we're after- child care for every New Yorker. It can be done.

Happy #FathersDay to all of the dads and caregivers! We will continue to work toward the goal of a universal child care system that works for all families.
15.06.2025 14:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0With the legislative session in Albany coming to a close this week, now is the time to pass automatic rate increases for the child care workforce! Make these calls today!
10.06.2025 13:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's no surprise that child care has become a key issue in the NYC mayoral race. Child care is one of the highest cost items a family faces, and the educators who care for our youngest New Yorkers aren't making a living wage.

While we were sleeping, harmful cuts to children and families were passed in the House by one vote. It's shameful to cut the healthcare and food assistance that New Yorkers rely on to give tax cuts to the wealthy. See how your rep voted here:

11.05.2025 14:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The NY state budget is complete. New funding for child care assistance will help to avert a severe child care assistance shortfall, but the Budget continues to bypass workforce investment needs.

Elected officials at all levels of government must come together and fully fund the Child Care Assistance Program that thousands of New York families rely on. There is no excuse for inaction.

This is unacceptable. Children and families, and the child care workforce that cares for them, are harmed by this. Our elected leaders cannot allow constituents to bear the brunt of their late budgets and standoffs.
