The Goat is one of the most archaic and main characters of the Kalyady ritual. She dances, dies and resurrects symbolising the sun cycles

The Goat — one of the traditional characters in Belarusian (and Slavic in general) traditional ritual performed on the Winter Solstice. It's one of the "Guests" — masked characters that symbolise guest from the spiritual realm. They go door to door, singing. Giving them food brings luck in new year.

My 2024 of new craft

I started this mask on my workshop in Poznan last weekend. This is the Goat, one of the traditional characters of Belarusian and Slavic in general Kalyady ritual. It is performed on the Winter Solstice. My Goat is not very traditional but I made it so on purpose
