Lifeless eyes stared back at Ari. The tropics cabinet held another macabre lineup of dull feathers and gaping beaks. But there would be no birdsong. She clutched her purse like a buzzard clawing at writhing prey. The lock picks inside dug into her fingers. This time, she couldnβt fail. #WriteCBC

Unsolicited writing advice, no. 2466: Writing takes resilience. You will sometimes be afraid. You will sometimes be rejected, criticized, disappointed. Donβt try to avoid those things. Feel them. Learn from them. Use them. Tell yourself that you have already done the hardest part. You have begun.

Title: Microdosing Jane Austen at the Office Panel 1: A woman sits at a desk which has a computer and a coffee on it. She says "I read a line or two of her writing every hour to keep a mild Regency buzz throughout the day." Panel 2: In a conference room with colleagues, she says "Meetings take on the thrill and romance of a glamorous ball." Panel 3: Typing at her computer she says "My emails are elegant, formal and heaving with restrained passions." Panel 4: "I glance demurely at eligible suitors as I daintily nibble a pret sandwich." she says as she looks across at three men at a different table. Panel 5: She leaves the office and says "It's not all been positive: on Tuesday I read a whole page, and before I knew it, I'd declined three proposals, danced several quadrilles and scandalously revealed an ankle!"

We have raised Β£800 in three days! #Curae is a unique initiative in writing and publishing for unpaid carers. Itβs a national scheme, which has not been funded by Arts organisations and every penny we raise goes to our three winners in poetry, fiction & non-fiction. Do share.

Dimpse: West Country dialect. Itβs supposed to be a specific type of grey light but I prefer it to mean a specific time between day and sunset. One when the Devon light it just magical. Pronounced Dimp-See
This fantastic #Curae prize makes a huge difference to the entrants. All are writers facing enormous obstacles because they are carers with little respite. Anna is 25% there with raising the funds needed for this yearβs bursaries for the winners. Please share and donate if you can. #WritingCommunity
