Rarely are we going to see big wins. And as I said, those of us fighting today for pluralistic constitutional democracy in the U.S. today are not likely to live to see our side prevail. So we aren’t going to be energized and refreshed by big victories. We therefore have to energize and refresh […]

One important thing we who are dedicated to the long haul can do for each other is to cheer each other on as we engage in the small skirmishes. We can boost each other’s morale and resilience by noting that these skirmishes, whether we win them or not, are all contributing to the larger project. 6/

But most, maybe even all, of these actions are likely to be, for many years to come, comparatively small skirmishes with limited success. The reason to persist in such actions is that they contribute to the larger project — maintaining the ideas of pluralistic constitutional democracy and rule […]

I’m not suggesting that we just sit around and theorize. We should engage in tactical and strategic actions to fight Republican Fascism, to protect ourselves and others from it, and to push for democratic government and rule of law wherever and whenever we can. 4/

We have to radically reorient our motivation and our expectations. Our task is to keep the IDEA of pluralistic constitutional democracy in the United States alive even as the REALITY of it fades. By keeping the idea and aspiration alive we maintain a framework for the next generations to […]

Regaining rule of law and democracy is going to take decades. So those of us committed to that project have to think and act very differently than most of us ever have - not in terms of two or four or eight year efforts but in terms of efforts that may well take anywhere from 70 to 100 years […]

Regarding the U.S. federal government, things have been bad and they are getting worse. That they are headed downhill is unsurprising, at least to me. The Republican Fascist Party’s antidemocratic authoritarian consolidation is much closer to its beginning than its end. Those of us committed to […]

AG Brown sues Trump administration for withholding climate funding | Washington State SEATTLE – Attorney General Nick Brown today filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration for illegally withholding more than $9 million in congressionally authorized funds to help protect Washington state from the impacts of climate change. Our changing climate has increased the frequency and severity of life-threatening hazards in Washington such as heatwaves, wildfires, drought, and flooding, and caused slower moving but devastating changes such as sea level rise, ocean acidification, and loss of mountain snowpack.

Santa Fe #SolidaritySeptember Labor Day Kickoff · Mobilize The billionaires continue to wage a cruel war on working people, with their cronies in the administration, ICE and law enforcement backing up their attacks. This Labor Day we will continue to stand strong, fighting for public schools over private profits, healthcare over hedge funds, shared prosperity over corporate politics. Working people built this nation and we know how to take care of each other. We won’t back down—we will never stop fighting for our families and the rights and freedoms that ensure access to opportunity and a better life for all Americans. The billionaire's time is up. On September 1st we will continue the movement we launched together on May 1st, standing in solidarity with all our communities under attack and fighting for real wins for all our people. In thousands of communities around the country we encourage you to take a stand with us on Labor Day. On the streets, outside the offices of the corporate criminals who are behind the attacks on our freedoms and at congressional offices. Together we will **demand a world that works for all of us**. **OUR DEMANDS TO BUILD THE SOCIETY WE ALL DESERVE:** 1. Stop the billionaire takeover and rampant corruption of the Trump administration. 2. Protect and defend Medicaid, Social Security, and other programs for working people. 3. Fully funded schools, and healthcare and housing for all. 4. Stop the attacks on immigrants, Black, indigenous, trans people, and all our communities. 5. Invest in people not wars. *Please note: A core principle behind all our events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.*

I’m proud to be organizing collective action in support of unions, workers, and just labor arrangements. Working with Indivisible Santa Fe on an event for this Labor Day in #SantaFe #NewMexico. Info/register at https://www.mobilize.us/mobilize/event/819310/

Attorney General Bonta Calls on U.S. EPA to Withdraw Harmful Proposed Repeal of Greenhouse Gas Emission Standards for Fossil Fuel-Fired Power Plants OAKLAND — California Attorney General Rob Bonta and the California Air Resources Board today joined a coalition of 23 states and cities in submitting a comment letter opposing the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) proposal to repeal all greenhouse gas (GHG) emission standards for fossil fuel-fired power plants and to eliminate the basis for those standards — the determination that power plant GHG emissions cause harmful climate change. The coalition asserts in its comments that these standards protect against increased emissions and further acceleration of climate change.
