Inspired by the wonderful folk art of Mexico, I created this Tree of life ring made out of bronze.

Inspired in my cultural background and the beautiful folk art from Mexico, I created this “Árbol de Vida” bronze ring.

Sorry, the year of course is not correct! 2025 not 2015!! 😁

No matter where I am or where I live, I will always proudly represent where I come from because that is what makes me who I am.

This brooch comes from my big love and respect for my heritage and rich cultural background from Mexico.
I wanted to combine the influences that inspired all my designs, in this case the strong religious imagery and the popular folk art.

I used Creative PaperClay to form my Angel. When it was dry, I started to carved out the Angel and then added some gesso to add color.

(7)We all need to try to put the shoes of other people to really understand what they are feeling and going through before judgement on how someone may be feeling.
Hateful speech is 100% not correct! Nothing can justify this type of behavior!

(6) Racism has existed for a long time, nobody just created it but hateful speech has empowered these people more and now they may not hide as they use to.

(5) For most Mexicans, the virgin of Guadalupe protects us, like a mother. My Virgen de Guadalupe in this piece has a broken heart and is crying because that is how I feel sometimes nowadays with all the things that are going on.

Yes, I am Mexican and I am always going to be MEXICAN no matter what, I have two nationalities and I am fortunate to have them both.
I am proud of my original country because that is what makes me who I am and it lets me share my cultural heritage through my craft.

(3) I am fortunate to have lived in this country all the time with legal status but that does not change who I am and where I come from. For some people, I am just a brown person; a MEXICAN.

(2) Some people may never understand my point of view because they have not walk my walk. Some people may say that I should not worry or feel scare or sad because I am not undocumented, I am a naturalized US citizen, but they do not understand what I represent at all!

Most of my one of a kind pieces are a reflection of a personal story or how am I feeling at the moment I created them. I have made pieces when I was grieving the loss of dear friends, family, my father and also my journey through cancer treatments.
