I really liked One Battle after Another but The Smashing Machine, not so much.

05.03.2026 21:12 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0There is a Fela Kuti album with Ginger Baker thatβs worth a listen.
05.03.2026 15:30 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Itβs my favorite PSH role. He played vulnerable so well.
27.02.2026 21:05 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It aged extraordinarily well. Saw it in the theater when it first came out and while I remember really liking it, Iβm not sure I had enough life experience at the time to fully appreciate it.
27.02.2026 20:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I just re-watched Boogie Nights for the first time in many many many years and cannot believe what an absolute freaking masterpiece this film is. To me, this is Goodfellas level of excellence.

100% the most life affirming book Iβve ever read.
26.02.2026 17:25 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I loved Kinds of Kindness. Could have watched a dozen more shorts with the same actors.
23.02.2026 08:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I never read them. π€·ββοΈ I just wanted to try and finish what Iβve started.
23.02.2026 03:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβm not enjoying the 2nd part of Dune.
23.02.2026 02:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Not at all what Iβm thinking of. Ever see Gaspar Noeβs Climax? Take Climax, Black Swan, Requiem for a Dream, Boogie Nights, and throw it into a blender with Saturday Night Fever. Get A24 to distribute it. It needs to be a psychological drug induced nightmare with an amazing soundtrack.
19.02.2026 03:07 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Why hasnβt anyone ever made a truly excellent movie about Studio 54?

Rewatched The Favourite. Loved it again as much as the first time. All three actresses are excellent in it but Olivia Coleman is π₯
Also watched Kinds of Kindness this week and really enjoyed it. (More than Bugonia- which might need a 2nd viewing)
Love Yorgos.
I really enjoyed it the first time. Felt like it really nailed that time period. Everything looked and felt amazing. Great atmosphere. Re-watching it, you lose the way it led you in the first time. Its slowness wasnβt as much of a build up as it was boring. Still looks really good though.
17.02.2026 00:35 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Sadly, House of the Devil did not hold up to a 2nd viewing.

16.02.2026 18:21 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Green box with the words βAlley-Upβ in white capital letters. Image on box shows a blue dexterity game where you have to try and roll a marble back and forth to climb to the top of an inclined plastic tray. It has a date of 1971 on the box. Made by Hasbro
Played this in the 70s, bought it off EBay a few years ago f/ my birthday. It makes me laugh when the ball rolls back down. What are your thoughts on dexterity games? Do you have any that you enjoy playing solo? Are vintage dexterity more or less fun than modern ones?
14.02.2026 04:13 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My hope is for hobby game designers to do their best to consider different peopleβs capacity for learning- to try and test with interested players who possess different capacities for learning.
13.02.2026 20:29 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Definitely not! Not asking for anything hard to be dialed back- just sometimes presented in ways that are more accessible- which might mean extra pages/player aids/a Rodney video - which might not always be in the budget.
13.02.2026 20:02 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0For sure. Not all things are going to be for all people. When it works, yay! But I just seriously must disagree with the notion that effort will prevail when trying to learn a game.
13.02.2026 19:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I spent hundreds on games I really wanted to play but despite being a reasonably intelligent person, AuDHD often makes figuring things out way more complicated than it should be. I love Pax Pamir, but learning it solo was really hard. Root is very accessible to learn. Accessibility is important.
