You can do it, Grace!!! I kept feeling judged as well, or like I was breaking their heart somehow. I kept making up all kinds of excuses!!

Particularly hard when the cashier is wearing what can only be described as an amazing turkey hat.

It only very nearly took me 38 years to be able to say “because I don’t want one” when the cashier asked me, yet again, why I would not let her sign me up for the store’s Loyalty card.

In light of the findings in the CLPE Reflecting Realities report, in 2025 I’m going to be starting regular free Ask Me Anything Zoom sessions for UK children’s writers of colour and BookTrust will host the first in March to help reach more writers! 📚

A few years ago I made a series of mini drawings of interesting Irish women (available as a print here www.ciaraioch.com/artprints/p/...) - this thread is a little information on the women featured, partly because it's useful, but mostly because I'm trying to be sustainable by recycling content.

Not sure of the way the artist intended for this piece to be seen. One of these has got to be right.
