I’m distressed by proposals to sell of public lands to industry. All efforts to save forests, grasslands, waterways, greenways, and marine preserves are so critical to our planet’s flora & fauna. It’s important to keep this conversation alive amid all the political and industrial chaos. September, 2015 there was a total lunar eclipse, also known as a Blood Moon, that coincided with the Harvest Moon, which is the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox. This event was special as it was also a Supermoon, meaning the Moon was at its closest point to Earth. This mixed media artwork emerged from thinking about the movement of the sun, moon, and planets, and their seasonal paths and changes.

This artwork, "Friends in 3D," imagines a couple buddies at a 3D movie. It’s made with acrylics on canvas, along with cotton batiks and faux leather.

This is the second piece in my abstract portrait series. It imagines a secret being shared between friends. I used one continuous piece of dyed cork to connect their heads, like they’re in on something together. Did you raise your eyebrows?
