The idea of a DVD being "a copy of your favorite movie/TV show that YOU own forever" probably sounds like the ultimate cheat code to the generation who has only know the streaming ecosystem and, as such, more aware of its shortcomings.

I already don't. I haven't played a single game with the yellow paint, & have only encountered the "companion that never shuts up" Just Now

I don't buy most modern releases as is. So i already AM. Doesn't stop me being annoyed.

The ways games like Classic RE or older Metroid games taught the player were generally less annoying or intrusive as the yellow paint phenomenon, or companions that never shut up about things I already know

I understand that some people are that new to games. Hence why Tutorials exist: to teach new gamers to play and old gamers what is Different about how the game plays.

But constantly breaking immersion through making things ignorance-ptoof frankly feels like I'm on rails.

How is it hard for people to get that 2 things can be true?

Teaching the player the basics, wsp non-conventional mechanics, is good
