One of the things we should be prepared to see more of? Parents being robbed of their choices for their own children, under the argument that if they were going to choose access to LGBTQ+ content/inclusion they weren't fit to make those choices at all.

That's the argument one lib board makes here.

Can we have a new mission for the next 4 years?
Observe, object, obstruct.

Pay attention to what is going on.
Vocally object and loudly oppose that position.
Do everything in your power to tie things up, so they can't go anywhere.

One just purchased 8 requests of mine haha and I got them all first

Tip for people flocking to libraries to get cards right now: using Hoopla costs your #library A LOT of money. In a time when funding is at stake, use Libby as much as possible and heavily limit using Hoopla, at least for now.

I did it, #booksky! I got my library card. Not sure why it took me this long, but I’m excited.

Also, for anyone thinking about getting a library card, it is ridiculously easy, and it seems like a lot of the libraries will let you apply online and you can read through your Kindle.

want something simple and actionable to do? show up to library board meetings. they're all open to the public. even if there haven't been challenges in your community (yet), show up for support. they're maybe an hour tops, and some even have refreshments.

For no reason today i am thinking about how in the Wicked novels, the Wizard of Oz imposes a ban on talking Animals existing in public, bars them from holding teaching jobs (or any job really), and 20 years after he leaves Oz and the laws are repealed, Animals still don't have teaching jobs again.
