It’s not new, and it’s certainly not a fad. People have lived this experience for as long as people have existed; we’re just finally talking about it openly. You don’t have to fully understand it right away, most learning takes time, but we can always start from a place of respect. That’s how decent folks handle things they’re still getting used to.”

There are a few birds on the branches but it otherwise looks lonely. Next to it at the right edge of the frame is an evergreen conifer stretching nearly to the top and around the same height as our skeletal tree. To the left edge of the frame, another evergreen that is shorter. Behind our tree are a couple other evergreens but there is a screen of fog masking them. The bottom third is nearly black in the thickness of branches.
