I got dragged to a one day church event in the mountains at age 6 or so (1979). The counselors for the kids group (who now I know were teenagers) goofed around and sang kumbaya and made us do crafts. They seemed bored.

Yeah, same. My Mom took me to church regularly. The priest had a special meeting with me after school one day to ask me about D&D. He was very nice but it was so awkward and weird. I didn't know at the time what the big deal was. He apparently decided I was fine and never brought it up again.

Oh and I just remembered. Went to an event as a Cub Scout at a Mormon church. There was a portrait of Mormon Heaven, clouds and all. I asked my Mom if that's what heaven looked like. She said different religions have different ideas of what heaven looks like.

Many things happened in high school that sent me to atheism. One big one was creationism. WTH? Evolution is such a simpler and consistent explanation for the world than their made up BS. And they would get so angry and manipulative while trying to defend creationism.
