14.02.2025 04:25 β π 83857 π 25992 π¬ 760 π 899βFirst, acknowledge the reality. If my use of the word βdictatorshipβ disturbs you, if your first reaction is to say βIsnβt that a bit shrill?β, youβre part of the problem. The constitutional crisis isnβt something that might hypothetically happen; itβs fully underway as you read this.β

I got pissed off at friends sharing a meme and I modified it, with apologies to Mr. Rogers, a great Pittsburgher.
06.02.2025 14:59 β π 659 π 160 π¬ 9 π 7Something I end up saying to people a lot is βthereβs no law, only enforcement.β In years past it has seemed to strike most people as a dark joke or too pessimistic but I just think it is a good, succinct explanation of how the system actually works

By removing Gwynne Wilcox from her seat on the NLRB, Trump has left the Board without a quorum and thus unable to act. In doing so, he may have unwittingly opened up space for states and cities to regulate conduct that previously fell within the Boardβs jurisdiction.

To be clear, the NLRB is an independent agency and NOT under the Dept of Labor β¦ for now. But yes, Musk is big mad at the NLRB so I anticipate they will be USAIDβd in 3β¦2β¦

Right back at you, my sibling in public service. Contractors have historically had it so much worse without civil service protections. Now it seems weβre all in the soup.
05.02.2025 03:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Anyway, Iβm not sure I have any pithy summary. Things are really difficult right now. Letβs look out for one another.

Anyway, I know that the current cruelty is the point. Theyβve told us that they want going to work to feel like trauma. (Hereβs the nominee to head the Office of Management and Budget):

Most federal employees arenβt looking for accolades or recognition. We do what we do because we are deeply mission driven and believe in public service. We just want to be able to do our damn jobs without threat or vilification. Suddenly weβre βtargets.β
05.02.2025 02:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Just like every other citizen, most feds have beliefs and opinions and exercise our rights to vote. But weβre not partisan at work. We serve across administrations. Weβre subject-matter experts. Wonks. Thatβs the genius of the career civil service.
05.02.2025 02:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0And my fam isnβt special or unique. The entire federal workforce is made up of people who, like us, have put country over personal prosperity. (In fact, weβre more fortunate than many given our tenures, educations, and resources).

05.02.2025 02:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0First post here and itβs a doozy. Iβve been a federal civil servant for 15 years. My spouse has 25 years. Like all of our fellow feds, weβre being threatened, bullied, told that weβre βthe enemy.β Elon encouraged us to go find βhigher productivityβ jobs in the private sector. But most fedsβ¦π§΅πͺ‘

Hi all, Weβre still here at OPM.
We have a situation where we MIGHT, and I do mean, MIGHT have four of Elonβs people blocked from the building.
Can we get press or a member of Congress down here? Weβve blocked them for two hours and they keep coming back and trying to go in.
I went to the argument and honestly, watching Gorsuch smirk for two hours nearly made me lose my breakfast. But I would like to know where Kagan will be taking her stand-up routine, because I will pay that two-drink minimum for sure.
