All joking aside, this is a HUGE win for New Jersey.
The bridge needs to be replaced; that fact was never in question. But now it will be replaced with a more affordable version that wonβt increase traffic and pollution for nearby communities!

Letβs be clear: running short on revenue does not mean lawmakers have to cut anything.
We can raise more revenue by making sure the wealthiest corporations arenβt exploiting tax loopholes. That makes New Jersey more affordable for ALL.

It's possible for two things to be true at once:
1) Taxing the mega-wealthy is insufficient to address all social ills and broad-based economic security programs
2) Taxing the mega-wealthy is sufficient to address SOME of those ills, while reducing billionaires' outsize influence on public policy
If you donβt already keep your cats inside (WHICH YOU SHOULD), now is the time to do it.
Birds are literally falling out of the sky, and while itβs still not clear if itβs bird flu, we know the virus is here in the state.

Improve family affordability with one weird trick

PJM must do better to lower rates for families who have seen their bills spike β and it can.
βWe know that if PJM makes certain improvements ... customers can save hundreds of dollars over the next few years,β said NJPP's @alexfromnj.bsky.social.

They capped the auction prices. No matter what price the auction clears at, it wonβt go past the cap. That will translate into the supply portion of the bill not jumping as high as it did before.

Taxing the rich is a valentine we can all send to the 99.999999% of us who are not billionaires.
Thanks to @itep.org for the #TaxValentines!
Our friends at NJ Bike Walk Coalition put together an excellent FAQ attempting to explain the onerous and frankly racist new e-bike law.
It is unclear how the state plans to implement this all in just a few months...

GREAT news! Energy bill increases will be curbed -- at least for now.
PJM has agreed to cap energy prices til 2030. This is because of all the work state advocates + governors have done to force PJM to improve!

Today we joined @njlcv.bsky.social at the unveiling of their common agenda!
I spoke about the need to reform PJM and to hold data center companies accountable for their role in higher electric bills.
Together we can make New Jersey affordable for all!
Here's a message to those other chairs: we will never be bullied out of testifying on behalf of the people of New Jersey.
If you don't want to hear the public, don't chair a committee.
Legislators like Chairman Smith and Chairwoman Cruz-Perez are so gracious and wonderful when they run their committees. They welcome public testimony, ask engaging questions, and thank people for coming.
And then there are the other kind of Chairs.
Everyone in #NewJersey should do this. Seriously, I was on the waiting list for a long time, and now I just get a lower bill every month. It shows you right on the bill how much your credit from the community solar project is.

The Community Solar Pilot Program was SO successful they ended it early and launched the full program.
A good reminder that the more uptake in government services, the more likely lawmakers will expand them to cover more people. A win-win-win!
As we all get hit with what is likely the most expensive energy bill weβve ever paid, check if there are any community solar projects in your area. Iβm a subscriber myself!

Just a reminder that any time you see an op-ed claiming NJ needs data centers, look for specific facts and data about WHY they feel we need them.
Because there wonβt be any real data. Itβs all vibes. βWe need data centers for economic growthβ ok show me the economic data honey

Uncertainty is a project killer. The signals that politicians send can make or break a project even if they canβt permanently alter the funding or policies.

A terrifying point reported by Colleen here: even if funding does resume after Feb 6, it will be difficult to get those workers back.
βWorkers who get laid off will move on to other jobs and it will be hard to fill in those specialized crafts, which could delay the project should funding resume.β
Again we have to tax the rich for their own good
