Yeah, I honestly got so pissed at how slowly they were adding even promised features that I started learning Blender instead!

Which is honestly going pretty well, though I'm not quite at the skill level for a full humanoid model.

Trust me, I know. I am also using a VRoid avatar after all.

That's fine too. If it doesn't make you happy you shouldn't keep going, follow your dreams.

I hope you find something you like more instead and that brings you happiness.

I have given you all the advice I can, only you can make the decision.
But if you just stay complaining about the design nothing will change.

Go watch your favourite shows, play your favourite games and gather ideas. Take your time, you are in charge.

Nintendo won't sue you for that unless you're selling one that earns you thousands of dollars using their characters or directly steal their art.

Maybe take your favourite character and imagine if their clothes were transformed into streetwear, then use that outfit. Like a Link-inspired outfit?

The slightly messy hair looks pretty nice, why not do a rock star outfit? Or punk? That could fit if you like those things.

Or give it an item, like a sword or something hobby related?
Funny hats if you know how to use unity.
Glowy parts, runes if you want it to look like a mage of some kind...

Not too tall, not too short. Nothing that shows a hint of personality. Neutral or plain smiles for expression. No interesting hair/eye/skin colours...

The variety of harem protagonists usually comes in black or brown hair and same for the eyes, because those are the most common in Japan.

I'm not saying he's got a harem, but look up what they are infamous for looking like.

A harem character is usually a self insert character and therefore tends to be designed to be as plain as possible so it's easier for the demographic to project themselves onto it.

Maybe a shirt with your favourite band or anime character? A cosplay?
Maybe wear clothes from a hobby like a sport?
Or add details that make other features stick out.

Try out fashion that brings out what looks good on your model? Different expressions and poses to give them more life?

Currently it looks like any generic harem protagonist but with green eyes instead of the basic brown.
And the jacket is plain and could be either a school jacket or a very basic suit jacket? Not really clear.

What are your character's interests? You could design the clothes to show that off.

It may or may not. I do not know how many others they missed or what the others even looked like.
They may very well have just missed yours among the crowd if they had to do two streams for it.

But yeah, if you yourself is asking if your character is too plain, why not add some details?
