These were expensive back in 1996.
The EL backlight usually dies on these, and some people install LEDs.
I like to keep them original.
The polarized film on the LCD is starting to deteriorate on these radios, too. If the faceplate smells like vinegar, it's most likely dying.

This one uses a dial string that is a nightmare to replace...
Complete redesign. II still shared some things from I. This one doesn't.

The original is quite different.
Besides the design difference...
Tone control changed quite a bit. And there was the Flamingo III.

Something similar happened to me. After several years, I decided it was time to test the strength of the gardener's broom handle using his head. He didn't want to participate, but eventually, he got tired of running. It wasn't a sturdy handle. It broke. He wasn't hurt. But never bothered again.

This setup allowed you to buy the radio and later the tape player. Hehe
It's rather rare to find one of these accessory tape players today.
