Great Energy out at Ski Day on the Hill, a fun and active way to bring colleagues together beyond the chamber and celebrate Canada’s winter sport tradition.

As we enjoy the spirit of sport and community. we recognize the importance of staying active, even in the busiest seasons.

It was a pleasure to Meet with KidSport (Greg Ingalls and Willa Minnes) and Senator Moodie. 1 in 3 Canadian Kids no longer participate in sport, especially kids from marginalized or remote communities. KidSport has helped nearly 1 million kids experience the joy of participating in organized sport.

Enjoying Family Day today in Ontario, on the trails and at community activities. Wishing everyone a wonderful day with family, time outdoors, and cheering on Team Canada. 🇨🇦

Great connecting with Cooperation Canada (International Development). It was a pleasure meeting with Barbara, Rob, Reyhaneh, and Frederick to discuss shared priorities and collaborative approaches to global impact.

Happy to meet with ONE as they mark International Development Week. We shared meaningful conversations on how we can reframe Africa–Canada partnerships.

Locally, globally, this can be and must done with respect and kindness.

Our shared interest in Science/Innovation and Sport led to many conversations.

Perhaps however, the most profound impact was a strong value we shared.  

That is, that we can find the light in complex work while listening and challenging  very different perspectives.

I have continued to think about Kirsty Duncan all week while reading many tributes and memories.

I first met Kirsty three decades ago when I was working as an educator trying to engage girls in the Sciences(STEM).

To connect again on Parliament Hill was a gift.

Yesterday I met with a South Korean delegation in Ottawa to discuss their bid to build our next generation of subs & invest in Canada. I was left confident that regardless of the outcome of the tender process, the ties between our two countries are set to grow a great deal in the years to come.

A weekend full of frigid weather and snow, perfect for "Winterloo" in Waterloo.  Great to get outdoors and celebrate this community.

Today I had a great meeting with Pat Davis of the BCLC & the CLC to discuss my legislation, Bill S-211 - National Framework on Sports Betting Advertising Act. I welcome their support in seeing this bill become law so we can begin to address the scourge of unchecked gambling advertising.

Our Team Canada Reception in Chicago provided a great opportunity to meet those working for Canada in the US along with leads representing Ontario, Quebec and Alberta. Great listening and learning for all.

Our Canadian Parliamentarians had an excellent meeting with Consulate General Madeleine Féquière, C.M. while at the Council of State Government (CSG) National Conference in Chicago. Purposeful on the ground work taking place that addresses the needs of Canadians.

I was thrilled last week to see my legislation, Bill S-211- An Act respecting a national framework on sports betting advertising- passed at 3rd reading in the Senate.

Today is Firefighters' National Memorial Day. I wish to thank those who risk their lives protecting us and our land from the flames, and remember those who have given their lives in this selfless service to their communities

Many thanks to the @ottawacitizen.com and the @cmaj.ca for their story today on the dangers of pervasive gambling promotion, and to Dr. Kelly for sharing his story. My legislation Bill S-211 aims to create a national framework around these ads, which prioritizes protection over profits.

It was an honour as a senator to support and speak today at the World Blind Golf Championships hosted in Simcoe (Renton). Fifteen countries, 115 athletes and their guides. An incredible display of the power of sport.
