I spent Wednesday in Washington, D.C. talking with my North Carolina Representatives/Senator about the importance of Medicaid, Dept of Ed, Bill HR 1520, and the ENABLE Act as part of the the National Down Syndrome Society advocacy day. Now we wait as we continue to advocate.

My son (12) is starting to get interested in photography. I love that he caught the sassy side eye of our sweet bunny, Bonnie.

Before kids, I went to protests, made signs, and was loud. Now, with 2 sons (youngest is disabled) protests aren’t always a good fit. I’m trying to find my mode of resistance. I donate. I make calls. I teach my oldest to not stay silent. I am going to DC to advocate for disability rights. Trying.

My son is in a school for medically fragile children and every child has an IEP. Our only option will be to homeschool because no private school will take my child. I can’t work because I need to tend to his needs. We are watching the world burn while billionaires laugh as they turn off the water.

My parents who voted for Maga are so happy about the border tsar and seem blind to everything else even though they have a daughter whose rights and healthcare have been stripped away along with a disabled grandchild whose Medicaid and future will be gutted.
